Greetings on behalf of Diego Garcia Modeler's Club! DGMC has gone a long way, since its establishment as an informal hobby group in Year 2004 by a Navy Chaplain and a Major of the US Airforce. Though the founders left it continued to thrive and now authorized to operate as a Special Interest Group in 2009 by the Commanding Officer of Diego Garcia Navy Installation and still moving forward. The Group's initial intent is just to provide free learning and nurture a hobby for interested military and civilian personnel in the tiny island of Diego Garcia (the island is very tiny and remote that made it very hard to locate in the map!). The Group mainly relies on donation and is very grateful for all who are supporting them. Hundreds of military and civilians have availed the free model kits, supplies and tools to use. To maintain sustainability and encourage more participation from the island residents, the Group had participated in competition in the US mainland under the Support the Troops Program, created its own website www.ipmsdiegogarcia.page.tl), sponsored running/walking event became a sister club to IPMS Gaston Country Model Builders secured a permanent work shop and soon to do car building competition among its members under the sponsorship of its donors and MWR. Indeed the Group had gone a long way and continued to survive and it is because of “All of You ” out there who unselfishly gave time and efforts to support DGMC.
